Thinking Beyond the Normal. Making it happen and Winning Together – our team of dynamic RJs. Here they are, in their own words
RJ - at Madhurageetham
Working as a nurse, there is much that one sees and endures in the long hours we put in. I get to see different people, each holding their own story – some joyful, some not. And very different from the life of a nurse, the life of a radio jockey brings me a completely different perspective on life and people.
My love for Kerala and the Malayalam language, allowing me to go on a cherished nostalgic trip every week, are some of the reasons going to work at Madhurageetham is so special for me. It has been a deeply fulfilling 10 years with the team and I look forward to many more.

I am what they call a “people’s person”, down to the T. Being around people, listening to and sharing in their stories are what keep me going. My favorite thing in the world is to be around like-minded people, engaging in stimulating conversation. So no, I did not do too well when the world quarantined.
Having graduated with an Engineering degree, I soon realized that my true calling was a career in sales where I would meet –more people! I love making friends, regardless of how young or old they are- you learn from everyone you meet, don’t you? If it’s worldly wisdom from the elders, it could be exciting challenges from your peers, or even feeding your curiosity from ones’ younger than us.
MG has been an amazing experience from the very beginning. For me, the most interesting aspect is realizing how I can meaningfully connect with the world indirectly, yet directly. I believe every show I do, I am making new friends and talking to them even though they are not right in front of me. Let’s just say I have some imagination skills that are impressive – in my head, I’m on stage entertaining a huge crowd of an enthusiastic audience.

I live a double life. My 9-5 Bruce Wayne life sees me dealing with myriad technical glitches and problems from desperate (and sometimes fussy) customers. An exciting and challenging line of work, but alas, not something that fulfills me.
It’s when I bring a flash of joy to the people around me, that I feel like I’m wearing a cape – be it through crazy tiktok video shorts, or YouTube videos that take a funny angle on snippets from everyday malayali life. I believe that we live our best moments when we see the beauty in simple pleasures and share it with the people around us. And that perhaps explains why I enjoy every moment I spend at Madhurageetham.
I cherish the people in my life, and have been blessed with a ‘chosen family’ here in Canada that’s as dear to me as my family back home. A big-time movie buff, and a self-confessed foodaholic, you can imagine what my ideal weekend would be like! But nothing like hosting an episode to kick start my weekend!
The only way to do great work is to love the work you do. Always on the lookout to learning something new, I stumbled onto radio quite accidentally and happily. Apart from bringing me closer to my mother tongue, being an RJ has opened doors to a whole new world of work-life and friends!
For me, Madhurageetham enriches the usual hectic and monotonous malayali pravasi life in Toronto. With a delightful platter of Malayalam songs I get to pick with Mridula, latest movie updates, and star interviews interspersed with mouthwatering segments like Nadan Ruchi ,there isn’t a better start to the weekend. I have had the opportunity to interact with some amazing new talent in the community from our very own cities in the GTA. Our radio team has been such a fun group to learn from, support and work together. It’s truly my ‘home away from home’.
Dance and music keep me alive! A classics-addict, I believe, my family is my greatest blessing and the wind beneath my wings. My funda? Take a deep breath and live in the present!
Dance, Music, Books and Cinema have been my lifelines. With an education in Business Management, Mass Communication, Documentary Production and Fine Arts, I currently try and blend my skill sets with a career in performing arts management. I’d like to think of myself as a life-long learner. I’m always looking for the next experience that will expand my heart and keep me inspired. I am mostly an extrovert , but sometimes there is nothing to beat a good long walk on your own. Other times a good book or an intelligent conversation keeps me ticking. Oh and chocolate- that will work too.
Being part of Madhurageetham has been a joyride from the start. From being able to talk about varied topics that interest me – from music to cinema to current affairs, to building connections with my listeners is like gliding into my weekend with a Long Island Ice Tea in hand – precisely what everyone needs every now and then, don’t you think?
Otherwise seemingly normal; music and cinema bring out the crazy in me. Being an IT professional working in banking, it is not like I would have an opportunity to work on a Disney musical come my way easily.
But Madhurageetham brings me very close. It is the cream to my cup of coffee. A professionally trained singer, my journey with Madhurageetham has been an enjoyable and an enriching one. On one hand, I’ve developed an interest for new genres of music, and I also get to learn new things from my guests and listeners as well. Healthy discussions on various topics that affect us, in big ways and small, on air is the most interesting part of my time hosting the show. “To be or not to be ‘politically correct’, that is the question”
